Pirate ship tomfoolery
I bought this rig to make it a dock.
I stashed it away because I have way too many irons in the fire to start working on it. For now I have decided to keep it a boat another dock came my way for $50. In an effort to invest a little money as possible, I am just going to work with what I have. I would like to turn the Pontoon Dragoon into a pirate ship, well, I would like to make it resemble a pirate ship. I have two small boys that would have a blast on a Pirate Pontoon Dragoon and it will make an excellent place to consume some grog.
The Plan:
Replace any rotten beams and flooring
Reinstall the homemade (electrical conduit) fencing and paint it to resemble the boards on a pirate ship
use the rickety canopy as the "captain's quarters"
Install a diving board as "the plank"
Make some kind of cannon that uses c02 or something of the sort to make a loud racket
Stencil the scull and cross bones all over
Add a bar for said grog consumption
LED lights strip lights everywhere!
Install a "center mast" with look out sized for a stuffed animal and small "no quarter" flag
Power:
best case, find an old motor and controls, and then affix a wooden ship wheel - might already have a line on a cheap setup.....
worst case, use my 30hp tiller (it will be used and docked in a 1/4 mile radius save a few 1 mile trips to run supplies)
Any suggestions are welcome!
The goal: Pirate ship
The Budget: Not much, I could go up to $1500 but would like to keep cost low as possible
Behold the beauty and magistracy of the Pontoon Dragoon!

Floats! I was happy I made it the 1 hour drive home with only needing to stop once for a completely new light kit and a wheel and tire. I was lucky that I stopped the tractor supply to see if the tires were holding air, both were flat. After buying a compressor, one held the other did't have a valve stem! The PO assured me the tires held air for a few days, and in the grass where I hitched it up, they looked okay. In the parking lot, it was another story, the tire slime was everywhere!onlybillhere wrote: ↑Wed Jul 15, 2020 5:37 amif it floats you already are winning! I can't wait to see how it turns out.

That's gonna be a fun project - especially involving the kids! Have a great time and post pics as you progress.

Re: Pirate ship tomfoolery
this should be a fun family project...a couple signal cannons would be cool...no projectiles though pretty sure bad jew-jew
Propane cannon won't be as good as BP signal cannons
