I thought mercury made a deal with BRP, owner of manitou, to rig there boats with mercury outboard after BRP shut down evinrude. Apparently BRP will rub with any brand.

To answer your question, Yamaha 300 because it is much lighter than the Suzuki 350. The Suzuki obviously has more HP but it has very little engine displacement advantage. I know little about the duo props on the Suzuki, but I think the extra 150lbs of transom weight is a lot for a tritoon.

My suggestion is to run both if you can. You will see why i bought the Suzuki.

The duo-prop has great stern lift and low end. Good match for a tritoon especially when have big load of folks on boat

I have not ran a 300 Mercury but have heard good things. But don't think can out perform the duoprop.

Well ...thanks for the replies.

I did not get to read them all before I bit the bullet.
I drove the boat with the yamaha 300 on it. Very nice. I've had great luck with Yamaha products and would not hesitate to buy once again if I liked the setup / color scheme of the boat. I did not. So, though I have not driven it yet I went with the Suzuki 350 on a Manitou 25 SES. Very impressed with the boat overall.

Dealer told me the Yamaha would push the boat to low 50's, Suzuki will push her to upper 50's and maybe 60 with a light load and right conditions. I could care less about 60 ...I want to be able to cruise at 30 MPH without strain with 6 or so folks onboard. I think either could accomplish that. I much preferred the color scheme on the Manitou with the Suzuki 350, plus this one had the in tube storage and the other one did not.

All my inboard/outboard setups have been Mercruiser. Quality product. But Merc was not an option on any Manitou 25 SES that I could find.

I pick up the boat next week after a test drive. I will let y'all know how things go.

Thanks for all input.

Let us see some pics and how it performs. I think the boat will easily cruise at 30 with 6 on board. We have a 25 Legacy with tall windshield and arch so it's pretty heavy and 30 is no biggie with 6 passengers.

I don' get near 60 but the SES is probably lighter than my boat. I don't think you could go wrong with either the Yamaha or 350 Suzuki, but I think you will really like the 350.

congrats on new boat.

I would love to see pics of it on the water. I guess I was wrong about weight being an issue, since bradm already has a 350 Suzuki on his manitou and the dealer is good with it, clearly they were designed for it. Congrats!
