Do you pay sticker price?

#1 Post by ZeroG » Wed Jul 22, 2020 5:44 pm

I never have. I hate to think of paying sticker price. But what is the norm now days. Boats seem to be selling out at many places around me so supply and demand dictates you might not be able to dicker much. You thoughts / experiences please.

My harris was 40k below sticker...Not sure if that means ridiculously high sticker or I just got a great deal, or both!

We bought the very end of November so prices were already lowered. With that they dropped another $5k without mentioning a thing other than I was thinking about ordering exactly what I wanted. With the extra 5 g's and being a factory demo ( brochure photo boat) there was no freight , prep, etc.

All that said inventory is really low. I was at my dealer a couple weeks ago. It's an old Sam's club that looks like a boat show everyday. It was empty. They had maybe 10 pontoons and 20 ski/wake boats between the lot and inside. This place sells a couple hundred toons a year so it was odd for sure. I could see the lack of supply driving up the price. Craigslist boats are extra high compared to normal. Boats, RV's , and other toys are hot items this year for sure!

I can't imagine anyone paying sticker price. Just like I can't imagine anybody paying sticker price for a car, unless it's a Tesla.

I bought a 26 foot Manitou. Technically called a 25 SES.
I sure did not pay sticker. They had it marked down a lot from MSRP (I'm sure they all do) and I got a big discount over that since boat had been used as demo. Felt like a good deal

You know I honestly don't remember what the sticker was for my rig. Bought the boat, trailer and motor, all new in 2010. I ended up paying a little under 21K out the door.
