Pontoon Drain Plugs

#1 Post by zwigstrom » Fri Jul 24, 2020 2:14 pm

I have plastic plugs on the back bottom of my logs. I want to take them out and see if there is water in the toons. I am having a hard time getting them out as they strip when I turn them. Can I cut them out and replace with Stainless plugs? I have read where metal plugs react in salt water??? Not sure. Need some advice.

Stick with the plastic plugs. You risk the threads siezing with a metal plug in salt water. The plastic probably got over torqued.

Put some penetrating oil on the threads and let it sit for a few hours before trying. I bet that it won't be a problem.
