Can't find my HIN (Hull Identification Number)

#1 Post by Boater314 » Mon Aug 31, 2020 5:26 am

I have a 20 foot Suncruiser Trinidad. I believe it was manufactured by OMC and/or Lowe. I also believe is was manufactured in the late 1990s. I have been searching on the boat for the HIN or Hull Identification Number and can't find it. I have an electric Ray motor and added an CMC motor lift - is that motor lift covering the HIN or haven't I looked in the right place to find it?
Thanks for your help!!

Welcome to the group!

In verifying what I thought was true... I found this:
"The hull identification number (HIN) on all boats built after November 1, 1972 is permanently affixed to the rear of the transom usually on the upper right corner. It is required by federal law and must appear on the registration application."

Hope this might be of some help.

Thanks Paul. I found this too so it may be under my CMC lift. I was curious if there are others out there that own this same boat and could confirm the location for me.

I do not have the same boat, but that is where mine is on my 1999/2000 Crest pontoon.
Big and ugly but we love our 1999/2000 Crest II DL with a Yamaha F115

Just to make sure I am looking in the right place - where is the rear of the transom usually on the upper right corner? The attached picture is of the inside of my transom I believe. So the HIN should be on the other side of the left bolt/nut? I cannot see anything there, and as stated, my CMC motor lift covers 50% of the transom exterior.

It's usually easier to see from in the water or from behind the boat when it's on a trailer.

Mine is on the side of my center toon/transom. I don't have a picture, but it's on the opposite side from where I've drawn the red oval.

I agree with Steve - should not be that hard to find, if it exists.

Mine is approx where the red box is - on the starboard toon.

I finally found it!! Thanks again to everyone who replied. It was on the very back of the starboard pontoon at the very top - tucked up under the deck.
