slide on bunk brackets

#1 Post by onlybillhere » Mon Jan 11, 2021 11:05 am

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to find new slide-on bunk brackets for my pontoon trailer. the ones I have are pretty corroded and I just don't want to take a chance of one breaking. so this is what they look like:

I just can't find them at all...maybe someone can point me in the right direction. They slide over a 2" box tubing.
Thank you!!!!

Frankly I think what you have are in great shape. That's just a little surface corrosion. I have seen MUCH worse still holding boats up.

The springs, u-bolt holding the springs, and lag screws from the brackets to the bunks themselves have much worse oxidation.

I have a couple that are needing to be replaced, but that's because the previous owner (obviously) didn't spray off the trailer when pulled out of saltwater. I think yours look fine, but I strongly suggest washing down after use.

Maybe I am missing something in that picture as am curious how they slide on/off? Looks like the were slid on before they put the trailer together? Other than a grinder or blow torch, how are you going to get them off and get a new set back on? I must be missing something and hope you dont make me feel like and idiot (ha ha) with an explanation.

Here is something similar that is a true slide on.

Those are the ones I was thinking of too for replacements. I would imagine the existing ones were made by the trailer manufacturer. Might be able to check with whoever built the trailer if you know and if they still exist. Yacht Club has a parts list for example:

The picture doesn't show the whole story...the square tube that the brackets are on are open on the ends (at the sides of the trailer) so you can just slide off the bracket. There was a guy on Craigslist here locally that had those brackets and damn if I can't find them anymore. I might have to change brackets....we'll see.
