What's your winter project??

#1 Post by steve1313 » Wed Feb 03, 2021 3:43 am

Seems like every year I get bored because it's too dang cold to boat. So every winter I spend the first couple of months figuring out what I want to add to my boating life, and then I accumlate the parts and eventually install or do whatever else I've decided as the weather start to warm up. I've done stuff like a new stereo head unit, new amp, speaker and subwoofer, a cabinet/grill station, adding actuators to my bimini to automate raising and lowering it and a few other minor things.

Well, this winter I've struggled to come up with just about anything I need or want to do to my boat. But I still was craving a winter project. Well, I think I've outdone myself this winter. I've combined my "go big or go home" and my impulsive nature and decided to change my B.O.A.T. philosophy from break out another thousand, to break out a few hundred thousand!

So my winter project????????? I just closed on a lot at the lake, and signed a contract to have a house built!! YIKES!! :biggrin2

So what's everyone else doing for a winter project???

Congrats! Nothing like having the lake in your back yard. It leads to a lot more boating. For my winter projects I just had a new Suzuki 150 installed on my boat. Also just installed a new bimini. And I have the NMEA 2000 network components ordered to install. Should be fun. Plus new stereo (fusion msra70) new speakers and assorted lighting.

I already boat a lot, but I'm sure this will lead to much more. I live an hour away from the lake, and I always say that the drive to the lake is never a problem, but the drive home can be a pain. Especially after a long day on the water with an adult beverage or two!! :drink4

Definitely lead to more boating. I come home after a 'fun' day of work and just a thirty minute cruise improves my mental well being. That happens several times a week if the conditions are remotely ok. If I had to trailer or drive to get there those trips would not happen.

Congratulations! Now that is a "go big AND go home" approach.

No winter projects boat projects - just winter boating on the warmer days.

Ahhh, I remember when you could rent 3-wheeled ATC's to ride on Pismo Beach. Then they stopped making ATC and gave them a 4th wheel, ATVs. I heard recently recently that you can't even drive on Pismo Beach any longer. Damn Kalifornia taking the fun out of everything :(

Congrats on the lake house. Going to be full time our weekend/summer place?

Nothing like living on the water. We had a weekend lake house and a place closer to work till 2018 when someone made an unsolicited offer on our other house. Felt was to good to pass up. Increased my drive to work to about an hour each way. Worth it to be right on water.

Even decided to put in one of these. Touchlesscover.com

You will love spending day on water and dock boat then being at home.

Congrats again.

My this year project was to get the boat out of the water and home to fix the trim.

My last 2 yr project has been a center console build....

So we got new puppies and I am building a bed/dinning social area for them, working on plasma table and playing with penny type stocks.

If God is willing we may start on our lake house/final resting place this year......
