Resealing Yamaha lower end?

#1 Post by Aluminum Maiden » Sat Feb 13, 2021 10:56 pm

Last summer I got a "rebuilt" lower unit that leaks from a dishonest ebayer. Due to lack of availability and it being middle of the season plus plenty of quick BS talk from the seller, I straightened the prop shaft ( was out .40!) and replaced the prop shaft seals. However, it still left a plume of oil wherever we parked so I pulled the boat out early. Does anyone have a video or source for resealing a lower so that I won't have this issue anymore. I'd like to either get on with the repair or put in for a legitimate new or rebuilt unit from SIM Yamaha.
I went drifting through capitols of tin
where men can't walk or freely talk
and sons turn their fathers in.

No help on re-sealing. Sim Yamaha is a good source. Also SEI lowers are reasonable with a decent warranty.
