yes...thanks...I do understand what's involved in "pitching " ..translation?..money........If you read the thread from the beginning, you can see what I've done, and now because I lowered the motor which resulted in a good ,positive outcome....I'm back to square one.....
...There is no 14x13 ,4 blade. The 13.8x13 4 blade had such a massive ,negative difference from the 14x14, before I lowered the motor, ....I don't wanna try it again....I also tried a black max 14x13, 3 blade extra cup ...before I lowered the motor.....and blowout was almost as bad as the 13.8x13, 4 blade....
I was able send those back with full refund mainly because I used the original hub...didn't open the boxes and use those new hubs........
The boat is stored for the season, so no experimenting for now.....and I'll do off and on research through the winter.....
If there is a 15x12, 4 blade out there....I'll probably start with that next season.....

Why not take your prop to a shop and have them adjust your pitch to 13?

well, I've already purchased a hustler 14x13 4 blade
and this lets the merc 14x14 be my spare....

Sounds like a plan. Hopefully it provides the RPMs you’re looking for…. :fasttoon

update....I've discovered the hustler prop will not work as my gearcase is 4.75 inches. The hustler and now I know the other props I tried had 4.25 in. hubs...
So I have merc., black max, 3 blade, 16x13 on it and will find out come later april....
If it doesn't work.....I'm going to a spitfire, 4 blade 14x12.......

I did read your entire thread. That’s why I recommended dropping the prop pitch “1.”

Dropping your motor lower took care of the cavitation problems, and dropping the blade pitch will increase your WOT RPMs. Unfortunately; it’ll also drop your cruising speed at your previous cruising RPMs. Because of that, I didn’t prop my pontoon boat motors to reach their max rated rpms. I cared more about a decent cruising speed at 4000-4500 rpms. Why? Because I never run my boat motors wide open anyway, and a boat with only two regular ‘toons isn’t a planing hull design.

With the tri-toon I have now; it’s propped to hit max rpm, since achieving a good cruising speed at lower rpms is easy with a planing hull setup. Mine cruises at 30 mph on the gps at 4000 rpms.

that's exactly what I wanted to do except there is no 14x13, 4 blade ( I just found out) for my motor. I now have a new, unusable, hustler prop......
I'm propping my 'toon for people on board and tubing. So if I hit 6000 rpm's , or even a little higher, by myself.....then I should be in a good rpm range when loaded up....
.... Actually, if a 14x13, 4 blade would work, then 15x13, 3 blade would be the substitute needed by my calculations ....but I deferred to a recommendation by a propeller shop for the 16x13,3 blade......so now I'm playing the game I didn't wanna play....cha ching $...
if this 16x13 doesn't work......I'm putting the spitfire 14x12,4 blade on it an calling it quits....
...the fact that my gearcase is 4.75 in. makes prop choices selective and limited.....

I think you’ll get it sorted pretty quick once your boating season starts. :thumbsup

hmm....thought i gave my update here...
so, the black max 16x13 , 3 blade, gave me 27 mph (gps) at 6000 rpm...this was with the current and against the wind....
...it was windy and the river was rough....
running against the current but with the wind I saw about 58,5900 rpm and 25 mph..
...so I'm where i need to be
hope this helps
