Been a way a while. Is it possible to scan codes on a Merc 4-stroke outboard yet?

I am needing to do some work on the Merc 4-stroke 90HP outboard.
Is there a way now to scan the codes for issues without spending an arm and a leg on high-dollar Merc tools?
