Fenders....Which are Best for Pontoons?

Hello all-

I have been toonless for several years. I have had several different small fishing boats over the past several years and have been enjoying them very much.

My best buddy just purchased a new 2023 Bass Buggy 18 with a Merc 75hp. We plan on some inland fishing sessions galore (rivers and lakes in CA, NV, AZ)! We are both retired..... so fish, here we come!

He is looking for the best fenders he can find. I am partial to Taylor Made Super Gard. I have seen the acorn looking Taylor Made fenders specifically for pontoons, but not too sure how well they work. He wants fenders that provide the MOST protection from docks and slips.

What does this group have to say about fenders......Size, Model, etc?

Thanks!!

I also prefer the style and shape similiar to the super guard. Adding several EZ Fender holders along the top rail of the fence on both sides of his boat makes deploying and adjusting them super quick and easy. EZ Fender is a great company and sponsor on this site. Highly recommended!

And be sure to tell your buddy to stow the fenders when he's underway. Nothing says rookie like a boat that has fenders out while cruising!

Not only do you need fenders but depending on where you dock up to, you may need to use fender boards to protect the toons.

Now that I have had a couple of years under my belt with my pontoon, I have found that anchor balls work 10 x better than your typical bumpers. I wish manufacturers of pontoons boats would give you a few more inches between the rub rail and playpen, mine is just about flush.
