Towing Tubes

New to the Pontoon world with a Pricecraft Vectra so wondering if it's OK to attach a tow rope to the ring at the back of the pontoon to tow a tube that carries two people. Planning on using a dual clip (to each pontoon) to a single point that trails behind the engine where I would attach the tow rope to. (Airhead "Y" harness) I don't see anything in the owner's manual that allows or disallows this so wondering if anyone else does this and has it bent or damaged the attach ring. The owner's manual doesn't recommend pulling a tube using the ski bar as it can overstress it. Just wondering what you guys think.

I have been using the Airhead Y harness for five years to tow our Super Mabel. I only have 115 hp so wide open on smooth water is around 23-25 with around 400 to 450 lbs. on it. We live at the lake so we put a whole lot of hours on it with 5 kids and 12 grandkids.



We often take 10-15 mile tube runs at slower speeds so that adult beverages can be consumed by the passengers! Again, our Y harness has a LOT of hours on it.

I recall reading some posts here last year advising that towing a tube puts a great deal of stress on the towing “connections;” much more so than pulling a skier. There were also pictures of damage included within that thread; some of which showed damaged hardware that looked (who can say for sure from a pic?) more robust than that shown in your pic.
