A buddy of mine gave me some carpet tiles i am thinking about putting on the boat. my deck carpet is trashed and i really dont have the fund-age to recarpet at this point but i had this idea. look at the carpet he gave me. this stuff is think and is rubber backed...i could use an adhesive to hold it down and it would be nice and paded. i weighed the carpet and it came out to being about 2 1/4 lb a square and they squares are 18x18. i think i have enough to do the deck and it would be a total weight of 160lbs. a standard kit weighs like 60 so i would be adding an additional 100lbs of weight.
here is what the carpet looks like

Is it indoor/outdoor carpet? Once you glue it down it will probably be hard to remove if you have problems down the road.

They should able to take a lot, but I think I put in down with Velcro so it would be easy to remove for cleaning but still be held down for transport, in the offices they just put it down and don't glue it and it never moves.
But then again they not being towed down the road

The carpet needs to take on a lot of weather. Sun, rain, mold, etc. Not certain it will last very long so I would not put it down permanently. Velcro is a good idea as mentioned.
