Battery Isolator

#1 Post by rolguin » Mon Sep 14, 2009 8:44 am

Has anyone installed an isolator on their boat?
Long ago I had one on my camper and it was great, it kept my deep cycle batteries charged as i drove.
My current dry storage does not have electricity to charge my two deep cycle batteries.
Plans a to install a Battery Isolator, so that when my main battery is charged, the two battery bank should be charged aloo.
I do have solar chargers that seem to keep the batteries topped off.

My battery Isolator just came in. I have wired it with 10 AWG wire from the isolator to my trolling motor battery bank. My isolator is 90 amp which is sufficient for my rig since the Honda has a 45 amp alternator.

After being out for a day, I checked the level on the battery bank and it is at 97 capacity, under load of the trolling motor. Both of these batteries are connected in parallel.

I no longer have to pull my batteries and charge, since my storage spot does not have power.
