On mine I put in a JBL MR-31 marine radio w/CD + Black Box Sirius and six 6x9 JBL marine speakers. Ok it's only 4 x 25 watts, but how much power do I really need when I'm never more than 5 feet from at least 2 speakers?

Im gonna look for one that has a USB port right on the front.
Then i can just slap my 8 gig mem stick into it and jam away!

We've got an Alpine in ours with an 8 gig memory stick which is almost full. Works great except for a few flaws that annoy me. One is there seems to be no way to make it play in a full random mode. It has a random but it seems limited and only utilizes a small part of the music available in the memory stick. It often has to be rebooted on startup for it often can't or won't find the USB device on startup. Great thing I do like about it is that thumb-drive is a heck of a lot easier on the battery than any CD player I've had in the past. I've literally left it on all afternoon and all night for we often stay in the boat and had plenty of battery left for startup the next day. Where with CD players in the past seemed to have killed the battery in four to five hours of play. And another big bonus is there are not CDs everywhere cluttering up the boat.

that's become a big issue with mp3 players. most of them won't do truly random
order, they will play a song more than once before some others have been played,
and they won't remember the status of the random song list when they are shut off.
what's needed is the creation of a random playlist. the clip+ uses standard playlist
files from your pc. you can prepare them with whatever utility you like, even
windows media player. the random number generator in windows has been excellent
since 2008, the playlist avoids repeating songs, and it can be started wherever you
wish. with 24gb of music, being able to randomize lists is important. you can put
as many playlists as you like on the player, some based on genre, some on artists,
some with all songs and just ordered differently. you can always shuffle the order on
the mp3 player if you want to. stick it in your pocket when you leave the boat.
