store it?

#1 Post by ROLAND » Thu Nov 19, 2009 4:15 am

Hello boys... got a question for you. I live in Shreveport Louisiana where the winters are fairly mild. Anyway just bought a new Bennington Fishing Barge this past weekend ( pics to come this weekend if I can figure out how to get them here ) anyway I have the boat covered right now parked in the driveway next to my garage. I've been considering a boat storeage place. One I have in mind is open on one end with the remaining sides all closed and completely covered above. Is storing a pontoon necessary or is it just as well off sitting in my driveway. My son has a pontoon and he says he likes keeping his stored so that it's out of the rain in the winter and more importantly not sitting in the hot louisiana sun all summer. Your thoughts?

If you don't have a playpen cover for it then definitely keep it stored under cover winter and summer.

Even with a cover the weather takes it's toll. If you put it under cover you can leave the fabric cover off till everything dries out, The sun doesn't fade the graphics or dry rot the tires.

The sun takes a toll on boats stored outside. The rain and wind do a lot less damage but over a few years you will notice a decline in the newness of your toon. I recommend that you get a good cover and try to find an inside storage. It would be nice if we could all have one like lakerunner to keep our boats looking nice and new.

I have the same carport as LR but didn't spring for the sidewalls. Cover it, the sun is it's biggest enemy.
