Star Brite Granted Injunction Against Valvtect - old news

#1 Post by Drago » Wed Jan 20, 2010 6:31 am

One of the marinas nearby has the Valvtect logo on their pumps and their fuel is a good bit higher than others around the lake. I had asked the folks what kind of treatment or additive it was and they really did not know.

Does anyone here use StarTron or know anything about their history?

I have about 25 gallons of possibly untreated fuel in my Bennington that has not been used since last July and was wondering if I could treat it now with the StarTron additive. Any ideas?

I can tell you from experience that using old fuel in you boat can cost you a lot more than the 60 bucks worth of gas in that tank.

I had a ruined weekend when the boat quit. A complete fuel tank drain and flush, replaced the fuel filter, rebuilt carburetor, and tuneup, all at $65 hr, which took over two weeks of primetime summer boating.

Your fuel has been sitting in the tank for over 6 months. I'd take out the old gas, and if it hasn't already suffered phase separation, treat it with startron and use it in your mower, chain saw, weed eater, etc. Put fresh gas in the boat, treat EVERY tankful from now on.

Startron is supposed to be good, another one is the marine version of Stabil.

Para is correct. Get rid of that old gas before it causes bigger problems.
