Seat Covers

Getting close to buying, and may be getting a boat with only a play pen cover. Anyone have any luck having seat covers made locally? They make more sense, to me anyhow, than the pp cover. Can anyone pipe in here about how fast/slow it is installing the pp cover? Looks like it can be a bit of a pain. But not that I know, just a new guy asking new guy questions...

I just got the latest catalog from Overton's and they have lots of seat covers for sale.

It usually takes me about 5 minutes to take off the complete cover, and maybe 7-10 to put it back on by myself. I have done this faster, but that is probably the average.

I really like the whole playpen cover as it prevents your carpet from fading as well, and prevents the plastics from fading and getting brittle.

Thanks for the info guys. I did check out Overtons online, and they show a limited amount, will have to p.u. the printed catalog, see whats in there.

it only takes me about ten min to put my pley pen cover on not bad at all

My playpen cover goes on or off in about 5 or 10 minutes. Well worth my time to keep inside like new.

I also thought about getting the seat covers before I had my pp cover made. I am glad that I went with the pp cover. It may take a little while to put on but you are protecting everything under it including the carpet. The only thing is I make sure that my carpet is dry before it put the cover on.

i had individual seat covers for my old furniture. used them once or twice. i've heard they don't allow much air circulation so you tend to get more mold growth.

Bob, I've got the play pen cover and even though my boat's stored in doors, We usually use the cover just to keep the dust off in between uses... however I have been considering a cover I saw at www.pontoonstuff.com You might want to give them a look. They've got one that can also be used for trailering. Runs around 400 +. Like I said, been thinking about it, but so far that's as far as i've gotten.

Thanks Roland, just checked it out. I like the idea that they have a trailable one. Maybe when I compile the list of "things for the boat" that will find it's way on, somewhere after the trailer! Right now the plan is to have the dealer deliver the toon to the lake, and I am luck enough to be able to leave the boat on the water till fall. Something quick to put on when a shower comes in would be nice. I notice those cover say "NOT designed for on water storage/use". Interesting, they look like they would fill the bill. I wonder what's up with that.

Roland and h2otoo The only problem with the coves on that website is that you Will have to take the bimini off the boat completely also no air circulation when covered most playpens allow the bimini to stay on, trailerable, easy on off, and allow some air circulation.If one of you want something like that pm me i have one i got with my boat Paid $500 and do not like it never even used it and i would sell it for $100

I've got individual seat covers and would much rather have them then the full cover. I think it's easier to take off and put back on, plus you can only take off a couple covers if you are going for a quick ride. I've seen way too many mooring covers have a pole fall and water pool until the cover rips. The biggest drawback is that you don't have coverage of all the carpet. I've had a little mold on mine but it's comparable to what other people with mooring covers have shown me. Main thing is not to cover when it's wet.

Has anyone here actually tried the covers that are designed for trailering? I would think trailering at lower speeds would be OK, but a major trip for several hundred interstate miles at interstate speeds seems like it could cause problems. Has anyone tried it? Does the cover at high speeds rub and wear areas of the boat? Any experience or thoughts on this?
