Motor mount locaation...help.
Hey guys...long time lurker first post. I mounted this 60hp, 4stroke last summer and had trouble finding the right prop. Finally seemed to get the right fit but experienced cavation when turning and seemed to get alot of backwash when running full throddle. Saw another post that seemed to point to motor mount locataion. Here is a pic...am I running too low? As you can see from the mounting holes, I can go up about 6-8 inches...manual says vent plate should be 1 inch below the bottom of the boat. Not sure what that means with a pontoon. Thanks much for the good advice and all the help.

From your pics it does look like you may need to go up on the motor height. I would go up about 3 inches and try it out. You probably should have dialed in your correct motor height before deciding on a prop. When you raise your motor it will give you more rpm and may take you out of the perferred operating range. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Looks a little deep to me, guess I will go along with the three inches. Looking from the stern, looks like you are about half log submerged, which is about right. Some toons ride a little higher just depends on the diameter of the log an weight of the motor to.

Looks about right to me,look at the bottom of your transom the vents on your lower unit should be at the bottom of your transom or a little lower,No higher,If you are cavitating when you turn then you need to lower you motor.Do a little at a time, till you can turn to your max, without cavitation. Then you will have it perfect, good luck

Took a better look at the pic now it does look low ,so just set vents a little lower then the bottom of transom and you should be set.
