60HP yamaha 4 stroke

#1 Post by riverratba » Tue Aug 07, 2007 10:19 am

i just bought a new Crest 22' pro angler with a 60HP yamaha 4stroke eng. i love the boat, this is my first pontoon! the motor has a 13.75x13 prop. full throttle it runs around 4500 RPM. it gets its full rpms at about 3/4 throttle on the motor control. i don't have a speedometer but my best guess is that it's running about 17 to 20 mph with two people in it. you can add three or four more people and it doesn't seem to slow down much. is there any way to get more rpms with this prop or is the motor pretty much loaded up all the way. the owners manual says max. rpms is between 5000 to 6000

Make sure your tach is giving good numbers, then you can down a few numbers in pitch, I think you get about 200 rpm per inch of change.

Your best bet is to find a prop shop that willing you loan a fed differant one's to try out and then you buy the best one for your boat

That's the same prop I'm running on my 90HP. I think you may want to try a 14"x11P prop. Here is a link to a similar sized toon as your with the 14x11.

I'm running the same Yamaha 60 4stroke and My numbers are the same as yours. I'm running it on a 24' Sun Catcher and run 18-21 GPS with about 4 folks on board. Like you I'm at full RPMs at 3/4 on the throttle. Strange, just like you even if I add additional people or equiptment I get the same performance............

Are you running the t60tlr four stroke with the high thrust foot or just the normal f60tlr?
