Anybody out there have a short narrow toon? Like 16x6
I am wanting one for easy towing. I think I will take my 28 footer apart and
make one. There is enough stuff to make two but I will try one first. I will
build a trailer that will let the logs fit in between the wheels so that I can
keep it really low to the ground to keep the wind resistance to a minimum.
Planning on a 30 or 50 Honda.

Only thing with the shorter toons they pitch more than to longer pontoons and less flotation, so take a ride on a short one before you trash your 28 footer with most have switched to from 20 footers for a smoother ride.
You can get a scissors trailer that will fit in between the toons but it not as stable as the bunk style, but are easier to lunch in low water and you can sit your pontoon on the grass to work on if you want to.
It's all what fits your need, I like my 20 footer, small enough to get in tight places but still take 6 people fishing with you and it a great place to teach a kid to fish as you can be by their side to help them.
Nothing like the look on the face of a kid with his or her first fish on the line, I remember when I took my nieces fishing 2 where 10 and 11 the other 2 where 4 and 5 years old, I figured we not be gone long as we went out at 10 am, it got dark and the girls still wanted to fish as they just started biting again.
I tied the toon up as the girls ran up to the house, by the time I got there they were eating, sister n law said what did you do to my girls[ the 4 and 5 year old] there on their second plate and I normally have to fight them to eat .
I said the fishing and fresh air will do that to you

Factory
I went to the Playcraft factory tuesday and talked to the head man and he said they would build me two nose cones and two backends and told me a guy in richland, mo that would weld them up for me. The guy I talked to is the one that set the pontoon boat speed record a couple of times. I told him I had always wanted to meet the nut that would drive a toon over 80mph. They make some 16x7 footers and ship them to Alaska.
I have a scissors trailer almost finished that I am building.

Rednecker built his own to fit his own needs a few years back, I going to see if he still got his pictures as we lost them all when we lost the old site.
That's the main thing is to make fit your needs, when you start getting the pieces we want to see pic's of it being built
