I think the sugar gives it such a nice mellow taste. It really cuts down on the bite of the vinegar. As far as bacteria goes, I always keep mine refrigerated anyway. They last for a couple months that way. Well, I guess they've never been around that long to find out. My three year old absolutely loves them. He likes to bring one for breakfast when I take him to daycare. There is this one little girl who always switches seats when he sits down. She wrinkles her nose, and says "those eggs are stinky" It's quite comical.

I've used this brine recipe on so many different things. It works great. During the spring season when the cukes are just coming out, I put up a few gallons of the fingerlings. I've done asparagus, turnips, green tomatoes, carrots, green beans and even brussel sprouts. I think, besides eggs, that the asparagus and green beans are my favorite.

We're smoking a turkey and frying a turkey, will have all the fixin's to go with it. As soon as we eat Thursday we're heading to the lake house and hanging out for the remainder of the weekend. Being from Oklahoma, we're going to watch OU kick OSU's butt on Saturday night. We may have a couple of adult beverages at some point and time over the weekend.
If the natives would have given the pilgrams a donkey instead of a turkey, we'd be havng a piece of ass for Thanksgiving...

It's not our Thanksgiving, ours is in October so Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
This week-end we get together with two other families on the street for our annual perogie day. It's like a production line and we make up hundreds of perogies all the time consuming large quantities of our favourite alcohol beverage.
We then cook up a batch with bacon, onions and sour cream. Throw in some Octoberfest Sauasage and it doesn't get any better.
We then split the rest up for the freezer.
It's not Turkey, but it's a great time and I love those perogies.

Well I went from having no plans at all to an emergency plumbing repair from hell were everything I touched broke, so a 1/2 hour repair turn into a 3 hour run to find parts.

But they were old friends so I hung in there till I got them going temporary, till I could get to homo depot today and replace most of the cheap ass cpvc a cousin of their put in years back, before the house floods, I replaced some of it before as a fitting broke in the attic over the garage.

Then they fixed me a big plate and I got to sit down and eat by 6pm, while I was fixing that I got a call for another buddy wanting to know what I was doing and invited me over as they were eating about 8 pm, so I went from sitting by myself for the day to a full day of friends and didn't make it home till 11:30 pm, oh also while I was working a neighbor called and told me to come get a plate he had fixed for me, I told him to stick it in the fridge for me I get it tomorrow.

So I got to say thanks to God for good friends and neighbors.

Amen to that Herb. Friends are so important next to family. I don't have much family so we cherish our friends. Had 14 for dinner yesterday. Was fun.

Like the new look herb, thanks
