bunkboard bracket bumpers

Our bunkboard support brackets are 2x2 angle iron held to the trailer with u-bolts. The inside of the angle iron was just looking for the right time to rip a hole in a log when trying to load, so after the 1rst close call I needed to do something. I used 1 1/2" pvc pipe and 4- 1 1/2" pvc caps. I measured from the trailer frame to a couple of inches below the belly skin, cut and screwed the pipe to the support brackets and put the caps on just for a clean look. Now if the wind or current makes us miss getting on the trailer we will not damaged a log on the brackets. They work great, have hit them a couple of times and they do not break better yet no damage to the logs. A side benefit is that they stick up out of the water and really help give you a visual of where the bunks are under the water.

I have to get my toons repolished this spring...no one on my lake has a toon with any sort of polish on it...

Ive wanted to do mine, but listening to the time involved, i havent gotten around to it yet.
Maybe this next spring?

John has a faster way than we did it the first time and after you get them there it's easier to keep clean, but you use sandpaper it the higher grits, depending on how bad you are to start, then go to the highest grit then start polishing, be a whole lot faster than doing it all with the buffing wheel.

Ok, just please hold it down a little, my head hurts this am and I feel like I am going to . I will get everything about polishing logs onto a thread along with some pics. Yes, useing 2000-3000 grit wet/dry sandpaper gets the logs ready for final polish much quicker.

Hate to burst your polished bubble but IMO your nose cone will probably crack. Your gouge looks similar to mine only not as long. The nose cone takes a beating and flexes a lot. I would have them fixed asap.
