I found out that its another $700 for the 115 merc and another $4000 for 150 merc Verado. I cant swing that. The sales guy advised me to look at the X3 if I wanted more performance. Here is a link to the pic. http://xcursionpontoon.com/ I dont really care for the layout of the X3.

The only reason I feel my friend was telling me not to go with more hp was because he lives on a small lake and also has a ski boat, so they only use the pontoon for leisure rides.

Ill have to remember that in future doc, thanks for the tip. I have family in NH so hopefully I can register it there and avoid the tax. The boat also come with a 5yr bow to stern warranty as well as a 5 year on the engine from merc.

The X3 is just a triple toon (hence the 3). It comes in several models including the RL. The layout wouldnt differ from the X2 (bi-toon) 23RL you were looking at.

Great looking toon. For $700 I would put the 115 on it...or try to get the dealer to throw that upgrade in at the price you are at now.

Hey 001, I've got the Yamaha 90 on mine and its all I need. Runs great and quick. The Excurison is built well. But you know it's going to be your boat, so whatever floats for you. Enjoy.

I have the x23rfc in a two toon with the 115 yamaha on her... and for me its not enough.... after a year of playing with props I am looking at going to a 150hp yamaha with the x3 package... I think if you are going with the 115 or the 90 see if you can get strakes on the pontoons. From what I have read strakes will make the most difference.

I would be interested in hearing why your friend dosen't think the HP upgrade was worth it. You have a lot of big heavy furniture on that boat and you are going to want at least 90HP on the back of that rig. It you want to put that ski bar to use you will probably need even more than 90. Very good looking boat though!!
x2 on the HP upgrade... very nice toon... btw you can never have enough photos Im in Ohio its single digit temps right now. I look at a picture of dry meat loaf aslong as there is no snow in the picture...

Heres a review on a 23rf running a 150 yamaha... according to this it would be exactly 10 mph faster than my boat with the 115. I am just curious if this one has inner lifting strakes? By the way it rides in the water I would say no... but I am no professional...

The North East boat show at the convention center in Boston is three weeks away, it is the largest boat show
around, you will find just about every Pontoon Mfg. represented with several of their models on display, before
you finalize this deal i suggest you plan on going, don't be surprised to see the same boat you are currently looking at only cheaper!, I think you will be on pontoon overload after seeing what's there but if it's your 1st toon purchase go to the show you will learn alot about the different models and pricing available.

That boat looks beautiful. However what type of boating do you plan on doing?? Any water sports -skiing , tubing etc?? What conditions will you boat in - flat, choppy rough, many boat wakes, no boat wakes.

If you have generally calm conditions then it looks great. However if you will boat in some rougher conditions, with larger faster boats making large wakes you may want to consider a tritoon. Or at least a straked two toon

For this boat a 90hp would be the minimum I would even consider unless you plan on putt putting the whole time.

She sure is purdy though :drool :drool

BTW on the sales tax discussion, here in FLORIDA (on used boats anyway) when I registered my boat at the DMV I found out that you do not pay sales tax on the engine, just the hull if the recept is itemized. I know it sounds crazy but it is true.

Thus I had my sales receipt written up so that the engine price was broken out of the total number. I guestimated the value of the engine ( on the high side maybe :donno :donno ) thus lowering the hull price. When I registerd I payed sales tax ONLY on the hull price. Saved hundreds of dollars. The key was having the motor and hull priced seperately. I was told that if it was one price I would have had to pay on the entire number.
