I have used this once: http://www.basspro.com/Hydroslide-Power ... 1/-1772282
It performed well. The included rope is in multiple sections, allowing for adjustment of the ball in multiple distances between boat and tube. I found that placing the ball midway between boat/tube was most effective place to keep the rope out of the water. Using the ball does reduce spray, but certainly does not eliminate it. I'm not sure if it increases speed of towing. Make sure it's filled with a decent amount of air. The more rigid it is, the more it sits ON the water, instead of being pulled under.
It is less expensive than the Sports Stuff Booster Ball, but it does NOT have a nylon cover. I'm not sure yet how that's going to come into play, but it seems that you've got to take extra care to not puncture the ball. I dont know....
In addition to its function, it provides an addition "large thing" moving in the water, and will perhaps help alert other boaters of the tube being towed....
