This was our 1996 Misty Harbor SkiToon that I bought new in 1996. It had a 150hp 2 cycle Suzuki engine and did 45MPH WOT. We used it for everything and it had enough power and speed to get all of us up solemn skiing, even my oversized body. Was a great boat but getting a little long in the tooth. I was ready to rebuild it but the BOSS had a different idea, she wanted a new boat, so we got a new boat.

This was her replacement. 2012 G3 LX322SE with a 225 VF225 Yamaha. I have only had her out twice so my opinion is a little limited.
Once the BOSS decided we were going to get a new boat I went to work looking at our options. What I wanted was a performance boat which meant a tri-toon, enough power to pull skiers and a good cruiser.

I was looking at mainly at JC and Bennington from past shows I had been to. A google search turned up G3, which I had never heard of but it is owned by Yamaha so I felt it was worth a look. Although the JC and Bennington are both great boats, they were both over what I wanted to spend. We took a 2011 LX322C with a 150 and a 2012 LX322 Elite with VF225 out for a ride and ordered a 2012 LX322SE, which is a new model in 2012.

My first impressions of the boat are, that it is well constructed, fit and finish are very good, standard amenities are impressive, swivel captains chair, three lounges, garmin depth sounder with fish finder, Sony stereo with Ipod attachment, Ski Poll, custom cover and pop up changing curtain (which will be removed) and an ice chest. The center toon has a well with a interior shelf to keep things dry, it also has a sump pump. Since it will be on a lift, the Bear deluxe trailer was a little unnecessary but it is a nice trailer.

Since G3 is owned by Yamaha I had several choices in engines. I could choose a black Yamaha or a Black Yamaha. The VF225 is very impressive. Since our SkiToon was a two stroke, the VF is so quiet and vibration free you can carry on a normal level conversation. I did run it to almost WOT and indicated both speedometer and GPS 51mph at 5400 RPM's. I know you are suppose to break in an engine but I just couldn't resist trying it for a minute. I had to modify my lift to accommodate the tri-toon but getting it on the lift is a breeze. In 2012 G3 extended the motor mount rearward so I have to move the boat a little further up than I am use to. I assume they made this extension so the boat turns a little cleaner.

I am tempted to follow my break in procedure for motorcycles but, so far, have pretty much followed the manual.

It will be awhile before I get to fully run it through its paces but I am happy with my decision and more important, so is the BOSS.

Your boat is very beautiful. I assume your engine is the middle size of the Yamaha SHO line--highly refined, light and powerful.

Bassmaster has the Yamaha SHO as a major sponsor at their bass tournaments, and it appears to be the boss powerplant right now.

We'll be looking forward to more comments on this engine/boat combination--fuel mileage, performance, etc.

Note: My WalMart carries Yamaha oil filters and Yamaha 4 stroke oil.
