Most certainly never ordering from them again.

Ordered two new floats for my carbs on 4/28. They did not state they would have to order them from the manufacturer anywhere on their site prior to ordering, I found that out after I'd already bought and paid for them. But they stated they'd be shipping them by 5/1. No worries, I can handle that. 4/30 they changed that to 5/2 shipping. Still not worried, that gives them plenty of time to get them here by today(so I can take it out on the lake tomorrow). Still, I sent them a message asking if they believed they would be shipping them out on time, or if it would be pushed back again. The response was as long as the parts were in on 5/2, they would ship on 5/2.

Parts come in on 5/2, I expect shipping info...5/6 they ask me if I want to expedite the shipping so I receive it by 5/9! I say yes, and ask why it was not shipped out the 2nd as the told me it would. They respond with an invoice. I pay it, they send me a tracking number. FedEx expects delivery of 5/9...

And then they actually give the package to FedEx at 12:52 AM this morning...parts will be here Friday afternoon, too late for me to get them installed, tested, and still make it to the lake. I can't go this weekend due to work schedule. I'm a bit pissed

Boat manufacturers have produced so many variations of their motors over the years, and there's no way any marine dealer can stock anything but the newer, more commonly used parts. And all outboard motors run on parts--long term.

You'd be surprised how bad marine manufacturers are at stocking parts in their warehouses. Once, I needed a Mercruiser 140 hp short block, and it took them a year to get it to me. They had to cast another batch of engines, as they really don't sell that many--believe it or not.

We hear so many times about Suzuki Parts availability complaints. That's why I prefer to stick with Yamaha or Mercury, as they seem to be a little more reliable in parts availability.

Just two floats for my Merc. And they've had the parts since 5/2, and told me they would be able to ship them originally on 5/2...that's my biggest beef. And then when they didn't do what they said they would, I paid extra to try to make up for THEIR issue and get it here faster. Wish I'd looked up reviews earlier, tons of reviews around the net for them pretty much advising of the exact same issue.

I guess I'm spoiled with most parts sites I've ever used actually telling you if they they don't have something in stock and have to special order, PRIOR to checkout. Or actually shipping things in a timely manner.

I am finding that because of the recession my suppliers are not stocking the quantities they used to stock. I have to wait on back orders all the time and if it is an import item they could just guess a date on when they would come in.

Hmmm. Boats.net has treated me fairly well over the past several years.
They have certainly had to order more than one specialty part direct from Mercury, but it then came fairly quickly at a decent price. My local dealer usually takes much longer for a lot more ching.
They only screwed up one order that I recall, which was really Mercury's fault for having confusing part numbers superseding other part numbers.
Not trying to diminish your pain, MPosey. It sux when a company isn't totally up front about their workings, especially when it cuts heavily into your lake time. I will take your info into account when dealing with them.

"I do truly apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. We are currently going through warehouse change and some unexpected issues have occurred. We have diagnosed and are rectifying these issues currently. Your order has shipped and shows to be delivered on Friday."

I have had great luck with them getting parts. If I had to blame it on anything it's mercury. I know when I need carb parts for my 50 it was a pain. The used different carbs on the smae model year and never matched it to the serial numbers. I had to take a blow up picture from my local dealer and compare the minor differences I coupld find between 2 very similar carbs. Now yamaha stuff thats easy to to get !!!

They got the parts in by the date they said they would. Just sat on it for a week before shipping out, unlike what they told me they would, then charged me extra for expedited shipping, still waiting a few days before shipping again, not getting it here by the day I needed them. Will not refund the expedited shipping charge, even when calling them I get nothing but a "sorry, we're having warehouse issues." They really just don't want my business I suppose
