Avalon

#1 Post by sib715 » Fri May 29, 2009 9:10 am

I'm new to pontooning, but had several deep V hulls years ago. Began the quest for a pontoon in April after seeing 2 of my friend's boats. Settled on Avalon's new 26 ft Sandbar and put it in the water 2 weeks ago. I will add pics when I get back to Lake Chatuge. The value, sea worthiness and layout have all exceeded my expectations and look forward to many years partying and boating on the water.

Powered with Honda 150 and cruise with 8 aboard, some with excess weight :-) at 4500 RPM at 24 mph. Maxed out at 6000 rpms around 30 mph

My wife and I just purchased a new 2009 Avalon Eagle 16' RE with a Honda 40hp 4-stroke 3-cyc outboard. The engine won't arrive for 3-4 weeks. I was wondering what type of speed we could expect (... I realize I didn't buy a speed boat but wanted to know what to expect... will ducks be speeding past us or not) :lol3

Thanks,
Tony

Welcome!! Granted a 40 is kinda small but it is on a 16 footer so you'll probably lookin at 20 max, but I'm just guessing not sure if someone on here has a 16 ft 40 or not if so they will chime in.

Tony... first of all, congrats ont he boat, hope you and the family enjoy the heck out of it... as for your speed question, not an "exact" comparison, but i've got a 20 footer 2 log toon with a 75 4-stroke, perfect conditions gets 25 mph with 2 adults on board.
