Sylvan Pontoons, looking for feedback

#1 Post by smlranger » Tue Jul 27, 2010 6:52 pm

We are looking at a 2011 Sylvan Mirage pontoon....getting rid of a Ranger fishing boat and moving to a pontoon rigged for fishing and cruising. Interested in a 20', 2 tubes, 115 Honda 4 stroke. Dealer says it will run 30 - 32 mph with this set up.

Any feedback on overall quality of Sylvan boats appreciated.

Welcome
Know Sylvan has been around a good while, no first hand knowledge good or bad. He is probably correct on the speed given the right prop.

I almost bought one this spring b ut just re-powered. The only issue I found in on the flush skin panels. When looking at new boats on dealer floor the all had dents and dings. My thought was one must be very careful when rafting or docking. Most new toons have the same panels now days including my 04 Tracker. As far as the rest I love the boat, layout and price.

You have decided the good quality for your required boat and from my opinion it would be best for you. I have my own pontoon but not of the same quality. The 115 Honda 4 stroke will make you to get the better performance of your boat.

I have a 2010 Sylvan 8522 Signature FNC and love it. I got a Suzuki 150 on it. It has the RPT tubes and they are amazing.

I didn't know the 2010s had the RPT logs. What kind of speed and handling are you getting? How much more expensive were they compared to standard logs?
