My neighbor has an alumaweld jon boat that he uses for fishing... He loves it. Can't speak to thier toons though...

Hey thanks for the input guys, been doing some research on them, 30 ft is a bit larger than I had originally wanted because I will be trailering it alot, but with that added space If it looks good I may just have to go for it, seems the entire boat with exception to the seats and engine of course is solid aluminum.

Don't let the length of the boat scare you unless it makes for a storage issue. The real reality of towing and length is clouded in myth, the real reality is length actually makes for far easier backing. The longer wheelbase is far more forgiving and a person can realize and correct errors in their performance before having to stop, pull forward and correct their mis-direction. It's hard to put it to actual print here, but behind the steering wheel and mirrors of your vehicle with an assortment of trailers of various lengths you'd soon realize what I'm trying to put to print here.

Thanks for the info, Makes sense I used to have a 32ft rv pull behind and come to think about it it was easier to back. Thanks again for that reminder

Have to agree with Bamby here, the longer the wheelbase on the trailer, the easier it is to back up.. Last year was my first " full year " of boating and I was scared to death about backing the toon up. While I won't boast that I'm good at it, I can get it where I want it... but watch me try to back up one of those little u-haul trailers... it's a comedy.

Very nice rig, I can relate to the uhaul trailer issue I have a yukon, cant see out of it to back as it is and with a trailer yeah it turns to a side show, with the chap I used to have it had to go into the drive at a certain angle or the foot would drag, it got to me the norm for the neighbors to come out and watch every time I got home with it...

I agree with lakerunner. Look for a toon that fits your needs. Make sure it has been maintained properly; not just the motor. Look at the decking, upholstery (look underneath the seats also), as well as the logs. If you buy from a private owner take someone along that knows toons and motors and have them look at it, even if you have to pay them.
Believe me, after looking at just a few boats you will be able to tell which ones are well taken care of!
When we sold our 11 year old 4 Winns the guy who bought it (a guy that deals in used boats) didn't even want to drive it. He said he could tell just by looking at the boat that it was taken care of. It also helped that we had virtually all the maintenance records-something else that would indicate the people who own the craft genuinely care for it.

Thanks for all the input guys I really appreciate it, Im starting to get out and physically look at some now and see some things I really like (alumaweld solid deck) and somethings I don't. Any one have any input about the brand tahoe?

30 ft toon, Man that sounds nice. I love long toons as they ride like a caddy.

Problem with the 30 ft which I really like was the seats need attention and had not cover, its an 05 alumaweld with 150 yam 4 stroke. they want 17999 any input?

I was thinking the same thing, they are usable for a couple years its more of a cosmetic thing but they def would have to be replaced at some point, I think im gonna see what there bottom dollar is just to see if they can be reasonable.

man I don't think I would go more than 13k if even that. with trailer or no? Granted it has a 150 but seats are 2 or 3 grand for a 20 footer. I paid 5k for my 96 24 ft in perfect shape. With a trailer.
