MANITOU-GREAT BOAT

#1 Post by garygbnj » Sun May 15, 2011 9:34 am

I have a 24 ft Mantou Oasis tritoon. This is the second pontoon type I have owned. I had a 24 ft Bentley with a 50 hp 2 stroke Merc. The Merc sucked a valve at 10 hrs and I had to get a new power head-I am not impressed by Mercury. The Bentley was the cheapest pontoon on the market and at least the year I purchased it the boat was fine. Had it about 3-4 years till I got the Manitou. It came with a 225ho etec, which is for sale. I repowered the 2nd year with a 250ho etec. The boat is awsome. Comfortable, reliable and powerful. Smooth as silk on bumpy sundays on Lake Hopatcong. Rides better than most v-hulls I have had. I would strongly recommend Manitou and Evinrude.

Welcome, Great Toon :drool :drool :drool and you had me with E-Tec, never mind going from a 225 to a 250, now see if you had member before we would have told you to get the biggest engine you can afford to start with.

That is what the dealer diagnosed and then got a new powerhead from Mercury. He had to press them to take action.

on my second Manitou. First one was a 20' bi-toon with 90 e-tec, loved it, just not enough power. Now we've got a 24' SHP with 250 e-tec, this thing will walk the dog........love it turns like a v-bottom glass boat with all the comforts of the family room..............

We really really LOVE our Manitou,it's a 2011 22-ft. Manitou Oasis VP Tritoon with Yamaha 150 4-Stroke.We bought it April 1 This boat does everything right! handles the 2-3 foot chop with ease and pulls a skier and tubers like a champ.Really does handle as well as a V hull, our last boat was a 1998 Ebbtide 210 Campione. We added the power assisted steering and I can steer the boat with one finger and makes for easy docking. The VP is the value package, the Xplode was #1 on our list but we couldn't afford the extra $10K. Our Oasis priced out $7K lower than a Bennington RLi with ESP and Yamaha 150 and the Manitou is 275 pounds lighter. At WOT our boat hits speeds of 38-42mph with 3-6 people on board. The fit and finish on Manitou can't be beat,we are definitely Manitou fanboys!

Cheers,
Robert

I have to agree, after selling my last Performance boat, I was torn between a pontoon and a deckboat. I contacted several dealer around the Lake of the Ozarks and did a 1 on 1 test drive with them all at one time. Out of my 3 dealer choices, I bought the Manitou. However the Manitou dealer at the Lake went out of business during the transaction and the bank removed his inventory, and my boat. (24 Xplode with a 300 hp 350 i/o) So I traveled to Mecosta Michigan to buy my current one. Same boat, with a 250 Etec. I gotta say I love it. The best part is it handles the Lake of the Ozark waves, better than my old Bajas ever did. With the some slight modifications done, it almost out runs my fastest Baja. We love it... Almost sold it and bought a "Brand P"in December, until a "Brand P" factory rep told me not to expect the performance that I get with my Manny out of that boat, even with its PTX hull. (Whoops, gave it away) Needless to say, the Manitou will be with us until our next one is ready for us.

Thanks Playcat! I still get around every once in awhile. Just super busy at work and not much time at the computer to browse around. All my computer time is pretty much devoted to my EzFenders now days. I'll try to stop in more often!
