Was wondedring a good place to watch from. I will be coming in from the north side of the lake, from mountain lakes resort...

We used to have a big fireworks display @ Turtle Point Yacht Club on Wilson Lake on July 4th's.

The crowds got bigger and bigger until the country club got scared of having possible liability issues--if someone had a boating accident. (A member of Turtle Point owns TNT Fireworks and is the largest U.S. importer of fireworks.)

The last year, they had about 750 boats anchored in the river and many boats were tied together, etc. We were out on a 36' Chris Craft mahogany cabin cruiser. The bigger yachts were having their own fireworks displays--off their boats.

They've now moved the fireworks display to McFarland Park in downtown Florence. There's not enough room on the upper Pickwick to have huge numbers of boats, and the river current runs pretty fast. But fireworks are fireworks.

We often go back by an individual's house on the way home. He's a retired airline pilot, and his retirement job is designing show fireworks and rockets for TNT Fireworks. Where some on the lake are shooting normal fireworks, this guy is shooting bombs out of cannons on his boathouse. And his fireworks display is about as good as I've ever seen an individual have.

Thanks for the info - Kilo

Bamaman - I need to be hangin' out with you- Sounds like a lot of fun!!! I love fireworks- but never watched them from the water. It may be just as fun cruising up and down the lake looking at all of the private shows.

I'll let everyone know how it goes!!!

Thanks again!!
