Big Cat
If I did this right and the pic is here, this is a 96 lb blue cat that was caught in the Ohio River near Cincinnatti a couple months ago. It is a new Ohio record. I've caught a few catfish in the area but nothing like this one yet. I'm sure his big brother is out there somewhere and I'll be out looking for him. Stay tuned for the pics.

Nice Cat you've got there. Question here though, when a person is fishing a boundary water such as the Ohio River is. How does one determine the residence of the catch to apply it's recognition for records trophy purposes. Is it the shore it's caught from Ohio/ Kentucky the fishing license held by fisherman. What if the fisherman were in the middle of river in a boat? Always wondered how this was determined of applied, anyone know?

Re: Big Cat
Good question and I really don't know the answer. When I've fished the Ohio I've always fished from the bank. I think I remember this one being reported as being caught from the bank too. I probably will boat the Ohio at some point though so now you got me wonderin.

Re: Big Cat
Around these parts, most rivers are divided down the center with the exception of the Delaware River, the state of Delaware owns up to the low tide mark over to NJ. Stand on the shore and catch a fish on the NJ side and NJ laws and records apply. Walk into the water (with waders of course) below the low tide mark and Delaware laws and records apply. You have to figure out exactly where you were to have a state record fish recorded.

Re: Big Cat
Can't say what the situation is between Ohio and Kentucky but along W.V. the Ohio belongs to W.V. but resident Ohioan's with current Oh. fishing license can fish the waters and banks and backwaters on both sides of the river up to the first confluence of the backed up streams. But the residents of W.V. get the privilege of paying all the costs of the bridges and upkeep to Ohio with them picking up only the cost of approach ramp on their side. But this still does answer which state a trophy fish caught would be registered or applied for as to it's status for a trophy.

Re: Big Cat
I think it's important to know the records on each side. If your fish meets the record on the north side but not on the south side you must have caught it on the north side right?

Little late, but for the Ohio river, along Kentucky , Kentucky owns to the north side of the Ohio river , specifly the the north side of the river that existed in the 1790's, when Kentucky became the 15th state.
Nice fish!

Re: Big Cat
I think it depends on what state you bought your fishing license from, most states will honor the fishing license of another state.
