Re: 88 Playcraft double deck Rebuild!!
I am getting ready to order new Aluminum paneling for my fence. I have seen it in a .20 and a .32 gage how hard is the .32 gage to work with? How easy is the .20 gage to ding up?

Re: 88 Playcraft double deck Rebuild!!
the 20 gauge is easy to dent.
I redid an old one a couple years ago.
when I delivered it to the new owner I could see caving in on the front when I went over 45 mph.
as soon as I slowed down it popped out. lucky it was only about 20 miles on a country road.
If I did it again I would use the thicker material, I am sure it will be harder to work with

Where is the best place to get 0.30 gage panel for pontoon fencing at? I would like it painting already so I don't have to mess with it. I know pontoon stuff only sells white and its really thin too.

Re: 88 Playcraft double deck Rebuild!!
Such a wonderful day here in Oklahoma I decided to go work on my project for a bit today. But Before I start here is a status of where I am at with the boat.
•Seats have been sent off for Reupholstered, doing a off-white and gray. Should be back in a few weeks.
•Panel has been order to redo the fencing (I have started pulling the old paneling off and prepping for the new stuff)
•Trailer and some supports for the upper deck needs welding. Gonna haul the bare boat to the welder by the end of march to have those things fixed and to pressure test the pontoons and check for leaks.
Once trailer and boat is back ill start flooring and putting back together begin.
But Today I started to tackle the engine. I have yet to hear this thing run since I purchased it last year. The Previous owner said a lot of work was done to the out unit and a new motor was placed on before it parked and mother nature violated it.
So this is the disaster of a wiring mess I was left with.. Years of years of previous owners adding stuff on and not taking anything that was no longer being used out.
I found myself asking "What the F#$% was this guy thinking" a lot today
anyways once I gutted what I didn't need I started testing the different components to see what needs replaced and what is good. I have a handful of sending units that need replaced and the bellows pump.
Since the motor has sat for 4 years I put some mystery oil on the cylinders and hand turned the engine over a few times.. The gas tank that has a bunch of old fuel in it so I need to get some gas in a hand tank and try and turn the engine over tomorrow and do compression checks. Hopefully all with be well
Wish me luck!!
