What is the hot product for sealing toons?
I was planning on using Sharkshide after polishing this year. I have run accross a couple products I have never heard of before and am wondering if they might be a better choice. Alumetron, and Top Coat. Anybody have any experience with these?

Not me. I just polish my toons yearly first of June.
I tried to use Sharkhide, but could never get the aluminum oxide off the toons. That alone is a tough job. It is easier to just polish it again.

Does the Polish last the season? My boat stays in the water

Re: What is the hot product for sealing toons?
It will last several seasons and is easy to re-apply. The next coat will dissolve the first coat and makes them look like the first application. I swear by Sharkhide. I had the ToonBrite on the first Manitou (factory coating) it was on the first and replacement set of pontoons. That stuff wore of fast and gave the toons a tarnished look. That's why I polished them, then polished them on the next 2 boats. If you polish them, use lacquer thinner in a pump up sprayer with a metal wand and end (it will destroy a plastic one, fast) to get the polishing residue, off.

I meant just polishing without doing a sealer like Sharks Hide. Will the shine last the season with boat staying in water?

Why bother? Is this a Southern thing ? I’m in WI and was on various lakes about 60 times last summer. ( I’ll improve on that this year ) In all of my outings I only saw one pontoon with shined pontoons. I bass fish around piers and docks, so I see a lot of pontoons up close. I admit that the one shined up pontoon looked great, but still, why ? Almost no one up here seems to care or do it. Just curious.

As a rule, I try to keep everything I have as nice as possible. If it means a little work, so be it. I take pride in my boat also.

I keep my boat in the water in the summer and use 3M Scotchbrite gray scouring pads to keep them clean and realatively shiny. Everyother week, while beached, I clean them.....doesnt take more than 10-15 minutes. It doesnt look like sharkhide but removes the growth and dull gray residue.

Bixll - A bit snarky, eh? I take pride in my boat too. And yeah, I know Pittsburgh isn’t in the south. I also know that most pontoon owners in Pittsburgh aren’ t shining their pontoons either. Does that mean they lack pride in their boats too ?
Re: What is the hot product for sealing toons?
Did not mean to come accross as "snarkey", I appologize if I came accross that way. I am a bit anal about all my stuff. I just put a deposit down to have a epoxy resign coating put down ony garage floor because the little cracks in. The concrete were driving me nuts! When I had my cruiser I would spend hours in my engine bay cleaning and shinning. Polishing my toons won't be nearly as bad.
