Good morning all,
As I mentioned in an earlier post, I took delivery of a "new to me" 2004 Bentley 240 Cruise pontoon last Saturday. It runs well with the 90hp Merc, although it's a little rough at idle and smokes a bit. (I've never been adverse to 2 cycle exhaust, though!) We discovered that the gas shocks that help raise the sun deck and changing room decks are missing. I sent a message to Bentley and received a reply that the larger deck takes a 40lb hydraulic shock - SE172P-40 is their stock number. Amazon has them, so it was ordered. I neglected to ask about the other area. Can anyone help me with a part number for that gas shock?
Thanks,
Ed

Any markings or numbers on the one you have can help ID the replacement, all the numbers have a meaning, length, lbs. of force etc.. look this site over.

Re: Gas Shock for "changing room"
Unfortunately, none of the shocks were on the boat when I picked it up - so, no numbers to look for. As I mentioned, I got a reply from an e-mail to Bentley and she gave me the part number for the large sunpad, but I neglected to ask about the smaller changing area.
If anyone has a Bentley - or, I'm sure most other models would work just as well, and can read the part number off of their gas shock, please post it for me.
Thanks,
Ed

Re: Gas Shock for "changing room"
I measured the closed/open distance between the mounts (they were still there, shocks were gone) on my ‘05 Bentley 240 fish, went to the local auto parts store, and grabbed some that seemed about right length wise.
They work fine, but I could use a stronger one on the bigger part, so thanks for the 40 pound info.

Re: Gas Shock for "changing room"
Just like Rick, mine were mostly corroded and gone. I decided on overkill. My dressing room curtain rail was a little "droopy" so I went with (I believe it was) a 40-45 lbs shock. I wanted it to really hold that curtail rail up high. I had to replace 5 or 6 shocks and had no concern about overkilling all of them. Been 6 months or so and zero issues.

Re: Gas Shock for "changing room"
Rick - I think I went with a 60# shock on my larger section. I wanted that thing up and stable when climbing in the back. That's where my batteries and motor access are.

The access is the same on mine as yours, TWB.
I have to lift a bit to get mine up, but once up it stays there just fine.
