PAID.IN.FULL. WooHoo!!!

#1 Post by steve1313 » Fri Jun 19, 2020 6:55 am

Back when I bought my new boat in September of 2017, it was basically an impulse purchase, so I didn't have cash laying around. Instead I financed it for 12 years, but told myself I'd pay extra each month and pay it off quicker.

So for the last 2 1/2 years I've been paying about $20 extra each month. Clearly that's not a great formula to pay it off that much quicker, so since today is the day I make my normal monthly payment, I decided to just call the lender and get the payoff. I took advantage of some great run ups in the stock market in the last few weeks, did a little profit taking, and used the money to pay it off in full! :biggrin2 :biggrin2 :biggrin2 :drink :drink

That is waaay cool - congrats! That just has to feel great!

I run my ancient tub of a pontoon because I believe in zero debt and I do not have the cash for a newer one. We boat year 'round generally several times per week, so a shiny new (or newer) boat would be more than nice.

At this point in my life, I just couldn't stand the thought of payments on a pontoon boat. We are in the design stage of adding another bedroom and bathroom in our walkout basement - and that will be paid with cash.

Not likely, but certainly not impossible. :lol3

I've found that when I pay something off, it totally screws up my budget if I don't replace the payment with something else.

That's exactly what I was thinking lol. Seriously though congrats on paying off the boat. We got a loan with our new one but it took ten year's of getting ready. Paid off things other than the house and built a garage to store it in. The whole time we used the boat I rebuilt to establish that the whole family loves boating.

Funny thing is after all that and getting a new one I always like to see what's out there lol

Congratulations on your payoff! I'm like Marc, I like that mine is zero balance. It does everything I want so I'm pretty content. That said, there are some REALLY nice toons out there.
