Transducer mounting
My wife(man I love her) purchased me a new lowrance (Hook reveal 7 triple shot)for Christmas
Anyway I'm going to mount it on our pontoon.
In the past on other boats I mounted the transducer inside the hull using epoxy ,these were all fiberglass boats.
My pontoon has the usual mounting bracket on the end of the toon.To keep the transducer from being torn off I was hoping to mount it inside the bracket using epoxy
Has anyone tried this and will the transducer work thru aluminum

Re: Transducer mounting
Seems like overkill. Did your unit come with a through hull transducer or were you planning on buying another one?
For point of reference, I have a transducer on the back of each toon and they never give me an issue.

Mine doesn't have the thru hull > I was going to buy one.My concern is that my swim ladder comes off back of toon on the same side as the transducer and i was afraid the

Re: Transducer mounting
Cheaper to train the grandkids. And if they wreck it, replace the transducer. You were going to buy a new transducer anyway...

Re: Transducer mounting
You need the transducer below the bottom of the log, Otherwise lots of interference from turbulence.

Re: Transducer mounting
On my 2021 Bass Buggy 16 I mounted the transducer for my Humminbird on the bracket supporting my live well pump that is located on the rear of the port pontoon. Drilled two holes in the aluminum bracket and used the Humminbird mount. Works just fine, no prop interference, and gives depth reading even at top speed, 23 MPH.
Re: Transducer mounting
I found my OEM transducer just hanging by the wire, and I assume I hit a log sometime.
Went to Amazon and ordered another transducer. The manufacturer had the original wiring attached to the toons and crossbars. So I had to order an extension cable so my cord would reach halfway the length of my boat and all the way across to the driver's console.
Fortunately, I had a Harbot Freight fiberglass wiring snake used to pull the cable without having to remove any aluminum sheets underneath the boat.
Transducers must be left where there is no metal under them, and they cannot be placed inside any metal hull.

Re: Transducer mounting
I moved my transducer to the other toon to keep it away from the ladder. Very easy to do on a pontoon boat, as long as your port tune has a bracket for it.
I am the guy at the boat ramp that gives you dirty looks when you are a complete idiot and too stupid to know it.
