Propping for 2018 Starcraft SLS3 Pontoon Boat

#1 Post by Bob » Sat Aug 07, 2021 10:14 am

Hi, This is Bob, I am new to the forum

I have a 2018 Starcraft, 24', 150hp SLS3. The boat is rated for approx. 35mph. Yesterday on the bay I believe I was tacking under 4k rpm, cruising at 22-23 mph. I had adjusted the trim. On my way back I was tacking approx 52k rpm and cruising at 17-18mph ? There was only myself and my girlfriend on the boat. The boat has approx.25hrs on it. The boat has always seemed to run slow for the horsepower. I am not sure what prop is on it. I will get in the water tomorrow and find out. I don't believe the hub has spun. I will check it out. I want to re-prop to one that gives me the increased mph at lower rpm's. I have not been able to research what diameter and pitch to use. I believe a 3 bladed is the way to go. Prefer an aluminum prop. I am used to and familiar with inboards (ski boat). This outboard and pontoon boat is new to me. Thank you for your help and any recommendations, I really appreciate it. Stay safe Bob. Skeebum@optonline.net
