Welcome ! Well then, you must have heard about Canal Days ??? I'm on the Bohemia, but am often on the Elk, and Northeast Rivers, Susquehanna Flats and River, and most summer weekends anchored in front of Bohemia Manor, aka party central :drink4 :drink4 :thumbsup

We are spending the winter months determining how and where to keep our pontoon. We have been hauling it down from Lancaster and launching at Anchor Marine in North East, Maryland. We have considered several options that all carry about the same cost:

There is indoor storage and launching in Port Deposit. The advantage is that it is closer for us, and the saltwater would get flushed as we travel upriver after every trip. The downside is that we need to run 3-4 miles to get to the Chesapeake, etc.

We really like Woody's and the Naughty Goose in North East, and Anchor offers indoor storage and launching.

The Bush River Yacht Club offers slips, a pool, restaurant, etc. Where can I go from the Bush River in a pontoon?

So my question to you is what do you know of in your area for parking the SS Minnow (yes I do know that SS is for steam ships, but Gilligan's Island's writers didn't) this summer?

There is Long Point, Two Rivers, Bohemia Bay Yacht Harbor, Bohemia Vista Marina (NOT RECOMMENDED), Hack's Point (I am there now, love it) and Richmond's Marina.

Not sure if any of the others have indoor storage. Hacks' doesn't. I store my boat at home during the winter, as I am 3 miles from Hacks.

Ever been to Canal Days ??? :drink4 :thumbsup :donno

Hi,
Another new guy, but I've already gotten a lot of good information from this board. Just bought a new pontoon at the Charlotte boat show, and its all your fault I traded up to the 150HP tritoon! (had decided on a 90HP w/2 pontoons. Its a 2012 Harris Flotebote 220CX Cruiser with the performance package and 150HP Mercury. Just got back from a sea trial, and closed the deal. I'm on Lake Wylie, SC.

Well this is the history of Canal Days:

It started in the 70s as a one day (last Saturday in June) arts festival. A few years later, boaters started going to that and realized arts festivals suck. :rofl Alcohol was brought in leading to women disrobing. Later on, beads came into play as well as more booze. This lead to more women disrobing (which is legal in the state of Maryland all all of it's waters). Over the years, the boaters extended their stay and now the festivities begin early Thursday through early Sunday every year. Some even show up on Wednesday afternoon now, so I suspect it will eventually evolve to the entire week :rofl :rofl

The Dockside Yacht Club point burned down in the 80s (gasoline and matches were reportedly involved). The Yacht Club property was then sold the Chesapeake Inn (now Canal Day's unofficial host). That being said, Canal Days really has no real host but the Chesapeake Inn benefits from it AND the Inn is crazy during Canal Days. It's private property so nudity is allowed in and on Chesapeake Inn's docks.

It's basically Mardi Gras with boats, we've been going over 10 years. We arrive Thursday afternoon and stay until Sunday AM every year. You motor in, find a spot or friends to raft up with and stay until Sunday :drink4 Our raft up varies, usually 40-50 boats. It's always the last weekend in June. That happens to be June 28-July 1 this year.

Hey, Everyone:

I am new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I found the site after a basic google search. I just purchased a 24' ProCraft Funchaser LE for a smokin deal from a lake neighbor. It has been sitting for a couple of years and needs all of the basic rehab stuff. I have read through many of the posts and it's simply amazing what some people have come up with. I have some wild ideas too and I'm curious if anyone else has tried them. I'll post in the appropriate thread, however.

It sounds like there are a number of seasoned professionals here and I'm looking forward to picking brains and making some friends. I live in Southeast New Hampshire. I have a slip in a lake and that's where the boat will stay.

Thanks for maintaining the site! Great place so far!

Brand spanking new here. Found this forum while camping this weekend. I sold our Seadoo jet boat and bought our first pontoon (used boat but new to us). Took it out this weekend for the first time was raining and cold but couldn't wait anymore. It rides like a dream and cut through the chop. Much smother ride than our old boat which we had for 10 years. It's taking a little getting used to with since it's five foot longer and dirves like a tank compared to a sports car. Still had a blast and the family and I don't regret it one bit. I have a couple questions and need some advice. Guess I am off to the right topics to post into.

Thanks to the forum admins and memebers here!!! Going to be a great summer,
