Newb from Texas.

#1 Post by MIKEYLIKESIT » Thu Aug 05, 2010 6:58 am

howdy folks! my name is mike and i'm an alcoholic. sorry, wrong forum. i'm a new toon owner. new to me that is. it's a '95 Sun Tracker 18' Bass Buggy with a 75 Merc. got a pretty good deal on her i think. this is my first (second really) boat that i actually put in the water and it's a blast! i got an '82 Citation V hull from a friend of mine with the hopes of fixin her up, but didn't happen so i sold her to someone who would give her the love and attention she needed. so, anyway, i'm a boating newb and new to the whole toon scene. dropping in to say hi and looking forward to reading and learning as much as i can from you folks. thanks.

edit: sorry i can't post pics yet. i work offshore in the GOM and company computers block my photobucket account.

thanks for the welcome guys! i live in the big city of Porter Texas just right above Houston on hwy 59. so far i have been out ONE time and that was on Lake Houston last weekend. might try Lake Conroe next time out to see if it might be a little deeper and less tree stumps to dodge. which by the way was great fun for a nervous newb like myself on their first time out!! :scared :paranoid

here she is going out on our maiden voyage together. i rebuilt the transom myself with fiberglass and SS hardware. put new night lights in the front and few other odds and ends. i want to do a whole lot more over time. this is supposed to be our "trial" boat to see if this is something we wanted to do and to see if this is the right kind of boat for us. i think we have a winner for our first boat. might save up some for a larger boat in the future, but this one will hold us over in the mean time. so, what do y'all think?

Hey Mickey you did it! Posted the pictures I mean. :lol3

Looking at the front of your trailer you need to put a block of wood wrapped with carpet on the 2 upright stops that are against the front rail to prevent denting the front of your toon when you power load. Just my 2 cents.
