Would like some Missouri river folks to give me a heads up on destinations out of Chamberlain SD. Is it better to head down river or work my way North? Crow creek and Lower Brule seem ok but G Earth shows north of Pierre has some slot canyons.
We don't fish. Boat transients.

Re: Chamberlain SD
That area is very pretty, there isn't much as far as restaurants. Water is really cold and with Pierre there's 2 Damns between those locations. Usually when we go there it's for walleye. Cedar shore is a really nice place. If it's windy any of those areas get rough. Not much else to tell you about in the area... Hope this helps.
Re: Chamberlain SD
Cold water we are fine with. Rough water is understood since all the pics (sailboats) and talk from other forums do make that point. Have the reservations, so Chamberlain it is for the first stop on the transient season.
Thanks

About to roll through SD in a few days and then after a week looking for some ideas. We could go to the Missouri gates or Apostle islands. Logistically the Gates are tough where running back through WI and the UP of MI is familiar. Anyone have some experience with the Gates?
