Long distance traveling with boat to SW Florida

#1 Post by lulupalooza06 » Fri Feb 12, 2016 9:55 am

What's the furthest distance you have traveled with your boat? We love to visit SW Florida and would love to take ours to Marco Island. We rented a pontoon for the day last summer and had a blast! It's a long way to drive, but I am also concerned about the 50hp motor. I think the boat we rented had a 75 hp.

I have been thinking of pulling mine down to Apollo Beach where my sister lives. Would be about 1300 miles and lots of gas with my Dodge Hemi :scared

Tow Boat US is ubiquitous on the west coast of Florida. Most of their plans also cover some hazards to your boat while on the trailer. (I have no affiliation ... just a customer.) I'd join for the peace of mind and go with your 50 horse.

Over the years, I have plied the Gulf waters with many POS boats and 25-35 hp motors. Not really recommended, :nono, and it got dicey a few times, but I'm still here! My family, however, feels much more comfortable with the Boat US membership. Whatever makes the Admiral happy, as the saying goes.
