Floating dock rebuild
I've been waiting to get this project going for a long time. Here are some pics. It will be 6' x 16' when finished.

I often wonder if Jimmy really did crack corn, and why should I care?

Re: Floating dock rebuild
Thanks, and ill post some more as we make progress. The house is actually my in-laws, but they allow me to keep my boat there. Its pretty amazing to live where they do. We bought our house about 8 miles inland from them.

Re: Floating dock rebuild
Ron: You sure build them like a tank. They'll last that way.
Do you use the Ace davit boom to raise and lower the dock, or just in construction until you can get the floats under it?
Marine construction is my favorite way to get my hands dirty. Unfortunately the marine construction season's so short up here. And with no tides or water variance, most docks are concrete with steel I beam frames sitting on 4" steel pipes driven to bedrock.

Re: Floating dock rebuild
Thanks. I think we have built it strong enough to withstand some pretty severe weather and a significant storm surge. The next step is to actually soften it up a bit. A bench, dock fenders, weatherproof stain, and a dock box are up next. Of yeah, and some fishing rod holders of course.Bamaman wrote:Ron: You sure build them like a tank. They'll last that way.

The davits are just temporary until we attach it to the stationary dock. The davits are actually next door at the neighbors. I'll tow it in place with my boat when its finished.

Re: Floating dock rebuild
Trying to get it done this weekend. The extra low supermoon tides help me attach the underwater portion.
