Good day all!!!

I apologize if this has been covered... I tried to search it but did not see anything that answered the question.

I bough a 1988 24' Grumman Fun Ship last year. It runs great and we had an awesome summer on it... As to be expected on a vessel of this age, it needs some TLC and updating... I am going to go at it a little at a time, and one of the projects I wanted to tackle this year was repairing/adding fuel gauge on the dash. I will start by saying that the dash, and probably the fuel tank, appear to have been replaced at some point in time. None of the gauges on the dash work. The fuel tank is plastic, 20 gallon, and has a gauge built into the top of the tank- next to the filler hole. My question... Is there an aftermarket gauge I can add to the system??? I guess while I am at it... what about all of the gauges... Fuel/Trim/Speed/ etc... Is there a kit for something like this?

I would try searching Ebay for a fuel level sensing kit. You should find something that will work for between $20 to $30.

There is no "kit" because some gauges are motor-specific. IF your motor has a trim sending unit, you need to buy a gauge that matches your make of motor. As mentioned, ebay is good source for fuel sending units. You will need to match the fuel gauge to your sender ohms, however 99% are compatible. A volt gauge is a must have, and they are universal. I would also suggest a tach, most will be compatible. Don't waste your money on an old school speedo, they are incredibly inaccurate. Get a fish finder with GPS built in, or use a GPS app on a smart phone if you really need to know your true speed. Good luck.

Do you all suggest using Pre-made wiring harness, or just wire as you go??

I have just ordered a book on marine/12V wiring systems. I am sure it will have its opinion in that area... just curious what y'all do.
