It's on like Donkey Kong 94 Sweetwater Rebuild
Ok large ordered has been placed so now it's official. Started off with a new budget couch and carpet. And well the misses wanted plush so started getting better seats, then it was matching stuff, well gee we going that far lets put in nicer carpet. Well if we are doing all that we should put in new floors, and well let's change the lay out a bit, and get rid of the faded siding.

I hope you enjoy doing yours as much as we've enjoyed rebuilding ours. We're so excited about getting it wet this weekend!

Re: It's on like Donkey Kong
floors are completely unbolted except back floor which is also holding up the engine mount. So this weekend I have take some of the engine weight off the floor. Thinking of backing up my truck with a deer hoist in the bumper hitch and using that to take off some of the weight- so I can feel comfortable unbolting that last board and removing.
And then I have to take of the throttle and shifting cable without messing up it's adjustment. First time for everything here.
Seeing some of the other threads, makes me want to put in third toon but that would have taken more planning.
We liked our console with sink and table built in. But old top and windshield are toast. Going to try and keep base and replace the top cap with wood or composite. Hopefully it turns out ok. I'm envious of the new consoles with burl wood etc. My biggest fear is I'm not naturally a quality/finish wood worker. So hoping it turns out ok.
Other plan is taking railings to a metal worker to have him add to the railing along back of boat allowing for a 3/4 sunning lounge across the back of the boat. Right now the railing drops down to half the railing height and a fishing seat was there.
We will then pushing back the changing room so that the sun lounge will end up being 2 cushions 24" wide each and 56" long so total sun lounge will be 48X56. Hoping that doesn't cost more than buying all new railings.

Re: It's on like Donkey Kong
Don't know if you're replacing any/ all of your wiring or not, BUT I strongly recommend you consider doing it all and doing it now while it's easily exposed.
Like a dumbass, I was gonna use the existing 'cause it looked "pretty good." Then decided to be smart and do it all to avoid age corrosion, etc. AFTER I had put the new deck down. PITA!
Having all the old crap off now means everything you do is in the positive side of the rebuild. THAT'S the part to enjoy!

Re: It's on like Donkey Kong
Thanks for suggestion! Are you suggesting that I should change the wires leading to the engine remote wiring.
Outside of those, there is the power wire coming to the console, and then light wires running to navigation/anchor lights, bilge pump, and speaker wires. and battery wire running to front for trolling motor, and tachometer, hour meter, volt meter, fuel guage,
So did your wires not work after you got it back together or just decided you wish you had replaced them.

Re: It's on like Donkey Kong
I replaced all except the motor harness. I did replace the ignition on that harness. I wasn't that they didn't work, it was that I hated how spaghetti-like they were run originally, and, I was adding all new lights, etc. so I wanted new wiring to go with it. I went with the wiring harness from PontoonStuff.Kytoon wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 4:21 pmThanks for suggestion! Are you suggesting that I should change the wires leading to the engine remote wiring.

I made that decision after I put the deck down, not all back together.

Re: It's on like Donkey Kong
The only wiring I kept during my rebuild was the binnacle harness for the trim and ignition. Since I did not reinstall any analog gauges, 90% of the wires and harnesses that used to be on the boat are in a box that will go with whoever buys my old deck setup. I used the engine interface NMEA-2K cable and a fluid sensor NMEA-2K cable (for the fuel sender) and run all the previously analog gauges through my fish finder dashboard instead. It made the wiring aspect of the project much simpler and I'm definitely glad I went that route. Speaker, aerator, and navigation light wiring was also replaced because why not.

Re: It's on like Donkey Kong
Need to cut 1' off one sheet of plywood.
I'm not real good with cutting a straight line with circular saw and don't have a table saw.
So I have a 10' aluminum ladder a considering using clamps to hold in place and use as a rip fence.
Good idea? Bad idea?
I'ts either that or another sheet of plywood as a rip fence.

Re: It's on like Donkey Kong
great idea if it slides smooth, I have used real weird shit over the years as a fence

Re: It's on like Donkey Kong
Option 3 find friend with table saw. Now i'ts time to put down joint tape and start bolting down. I'll probably regret it later but not going to replace wiring. I"m already way over budget on my original idea of spending a $1000 to replace the seat cushions.
