Trailer bunk issue

So we have managed to get the loading and unloading down to a fine art between me and the wife, we almost never threaten bodily harm anymore! But I noticed unless the trailer is deep in the launch so that the toon floats almost to the stop that when we try to winch it up or power load it that the pointed part of the log up front hits the hardware that holds the bunk brackets. I am guessing this is due to the fact that the logs are a smaller diameter since this is a 1972 Harris. Would we be ok to either double up the bunk boards or put "spacers" under the boards to make the spacing closer so that they don't do this?

It's kind of hard to understand exactly what you're asking, and pics would certainly help as Curtis suggested. But if I understand what you're asking, either one of your proposed solutions would probably work fine.
