If you have a big motor you want it centered for the best performance. A little kicker can be off center because you will not be going over hull speed. There was room for a mini motor pod skid and a fold down bracket between the big pod and the log on my Harris.
It was a home built deal using 1.5" aluminum angle and some aluminum sheet for the skin.
They had something like one of these bolted on it but it was all cast aluminum
