tire date

I lost the link that tells you the date that tires was made, the link said that some tires are on the shelf for years and dry rot but are still sold as new ( never on the road but dryed out and unsafe )

Before 2000, tires were dated such as: LMLR408. The letters indicated mfr and the numbers show it was made in the 40th week of the 8th year of the decade (1980). If you see this type of code - RUNNN!

After 2000:LMLR5107. The date code shows the 51st week of 2007.

You can do a search for Uniform Tire Grade Standards. You can find out about the remainder of the codes.
