Seat Pull Straps

#1 Post by fairmont » Thu Jul 19, 2012 4:32 am

Hello. New boat owner and member here. I've gained a lot of knowledge since I got my pontoon a month ago but I still know very little. I'm looking to replace the seat cushion pull straps as mine are in really bad shape. I've done searches and queries and have found no ideas for replacement or specific products. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The pull straps are the only thing that Tracker could have done better on mine. They are 1" cotton pull straps and should have been a better syn fiber. They have all broke and need to be replaced. If I keep the boat then I will buy some new material and replace them. It is not a major job just measure and buy and replace. The only ones that can cause a problem are the two on the back sundeck thingie and changing room as they operate the safety catches to hold it down during times of trailering and running across the lake. Sometimes it's hard to get them to open.

I would try online or a fabric store and see if they can help you find what your looking for.

I rarely use mine, cause you need to run your hand down the edge to separate the vinyl especially when it is hot or you haven't opened them in a while. Probably could fabricate some straps to attach cheaper an probably better than you could purchase. The web type military belts come to mind, and come in a rainbow of colors.

Web belts are cotton and I think they would start growing stuff pretty quick on a boat.
I would look at a surplus place like Sportsmans guide and see if they have some kind of nylon webbing
